Our Local Favorites
This is one of the most desirable places to live in the nation according to Forbes Magazine, The New York Times, Money Magazine, Sunset Magazine and …me. It is extraordinarily beautiful with pristine forests and rich agricultural land that have been preserved thanks to the stringent land use laws that keep Oregon such a pleasurable place to live. Our area has thriving cultural amenities boasting the #2 repertory theater in the country, our beloved Oregon Shakespeare Festival. The Festival puts on high caliber theater from February through October featuring contemporary plays as well as plays by the Bard.
The outdoor recreational opportunities abound and are in close proximity to town. You will find world class hiking, rafting, fishing, cycling, golfing and numerous rivers and lakes including the mighty Rogue River. Skiing is just minutes from downtown Ashland at Mt. Ashland or cruise over the California border and enjoy a day on Mt. Shasta. The Pacific Crest Trail is easily accessible within a 20 minute drive from Ashland as well.
Ashland offers an excellent school system including private and charter schools as well as Southern Oregon University and Rogue Community College and a well-educated citizenry. We all deserve to live in safe communities and you will find the safety is the norm in Ashland. Ashland is a small town at heart that values people, safety, education, our beautiful environment and a slower pace of life and a bounty of culture, arts, and recreational opportunities often only found in bustling cities. Ashland is truly the best of both worlds.
All of the surrounding communities of Southern Oregon offer experiences for our residents that leave the hurried rush of life far behind. We love living in this wonderful and beautiful valley we call home.
